The Baligan’s are a Paris-based hair and makeup, educator duo. Since the late nineties, the pair’s mutual inspirations continuously aim to create a raw, urban, post-punk, timeless, cinematic, imaginative approach to beauty.

Raised in Avignon and Camargue, the two established themselves during the London post-grunge era, collaborating with Bjork, Blur, Tricky, Glen Luchford, David Bailey, Vivienne Westwood, Bella Freud, Hussein Chalayan, Boudicca and Joe Casely-Hayford.

Before working in the fashion field, The Baligan’s were education trainers at the Vidal Sassoon School and Academy, London. In 2001, the couple moved to New York where they became contracted editorial hair and makeup stylists and educators at Bumble & Bumble’s School and Academy. There the duo developed a specialized workshop inspired by the Bauhaus movement. Students worked as apprentice image makers, to practice specific hair crafts, learning to design looks combined with product knowledge from the brand, following the Baligan’s instructions.
The workshop named The Editorial Class represents a form of practical education in which students have the opportunity to apply the principles learned in their hair styling career to hands-on process of image making.

During the last ten years spent in the enigmatic city of Berlin, the twosome also formed a visual artist duo and a publishing house, exhibiting their work in the underground scene.

At the present time, the pair pursue their workshop The Editorial Class, believing that mentoring beauty through image-making is a galvanizing tool to comprehend the woman and man of today.
